Getting Things Done.......
Finally. I was thinking the other day that this is the first time since December that I have felt 90%.
I say that because, really, the last time that I ever I felt 100%, I was 22 years old, could go dancing until 2:00 am and still get up and go to work the next day all with out a cup of coffee or an aching muscle.
Nowadays....eh...not so much...... One crazy night of staying up to watch the news at 11:00 pm and I'm paying for it in all kinds of ways the next day. So, anyway, December started my downward slide with this and then I'm sure we all remember this (which took 6 full weeks in which to recover) and then I got sick with this.
So lately I have been feeling super motivated to get everything on my "list of things to do" done. And... guess what? I've actually been getting things accomplished.....like...get this.....painting my kitchen cabinets. For those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile know that this has been on my list for quite some time. And, believe me when I say that this is no easy task when you have a husband who expects ridiculous things from you while getting the job done....like prepping the area....and using drop cloths....and cleaning up afterwards....Although, he fancies himself efficient and productive, he's really what we artists call a creativity crusher. But, nonetheless, even with him breathing down my neck making sure I open the can of paint with a paint can opener and not a butter knife, I managed to not only paint the kitchen cabinets, but the cabinet and wainscotting in the bathroom and the base moulding and door casing in the hallway. I was actually feeling a little productive and efficient myself.
On a crafty note, I am mailing out all the "Spring into Action" giveaway gifts finally. I got sidelined by all the painting but they are all ready to get to their new homes.
Here are the gift tags in progress......
I just picked up the new issue of this........
I love Country Living and I always think their covers are fabulous. But for some reason this month's cover just called out to me. I absolutely adore it....the colors....the styling....the bucket with the flowers.....just beautiful. So much inspiration just from this cover alone.
I also got a chance to peruse my local little thrift shops by my house. I never get to do this because it is just too hard with a three year old in tow. But this time my mom came along and I was able to peruse the bookshelves for the books pictured above as well as some really fun kids books. Remember these......
And then I got this wonderful music book.....
I thought this was so sad...."DISCARDED"......
That's about it for now....I'm working on some crafty projects like the hearts below (which I'm hoping to have done in time for the "Valentine's 2011 Collection"...we'll see though....) and shopping for a new mini van. Anyone have a Toyota Sienna? That's the one we are thinking of....I'm in the middle of huge negotiations for the best deal...numbers are being cruched....slips of paper are being slid back and forth on the table.....and words like "unacceptable", "I'm walking" and"don't even try to offer me msrp buddy when I know your numbers have been off by 3% since January" are flying in the air.......so we'll see how it all works out......Talk to you later! Karin

Good to hear you are feeling well.
Wow you must be an expert on painting now after all you did. Always makes the house look so fresh with some new paint.
Love the blue on the Country Living magazine cover.
Great to have your Mom along so as you can really thrift without having to worry about the little man.

Wow! Good for you! I know exactly what you mean about the cover of that mag. I snatched it up as fast as I could. The pink, white and black pages inside were also very inspiring for me.

isn't it so slow to have to put down drop cloths and how does one keep up with the tools that would prevent the need to use a butter knife. I actually have found that I like spoons better, but oh well. Sounds like you have some wonderful new things going on. I too was drawn in by the cover on the Country Living Issue....I am dreaming it is my house right now....ha. Glad you feel 90%. I figure 75% would be great....no hard living or early mornings for me. Love your blog every time I read it.

I'm so glad I now have all my blogs plugged into google reader so I don't ever have to miss another one of your posts. I just frittered away a good 30 minutes reading the pinched nerve post and the flu post along with this one. I had, thankfully, already read the falling off the stool post. You certainly write page turners that keep me in stitches the whole time. Never a boring moment at the Chaos house or at least not a boring moment in the replay ;).

Come to think of it....it's a miracle you made it through all that painting without some sort of injury or debacle. You better watch your back.

Wait - we're not supposed to open the paint can with a butter knife?

Hi, Karin,
Congratulations on getting things done! I sure know that feeling of one late night, and paying for it for days afterward. I myself had a night in college when I literally danced for 8 hours with no problem -- but no more! I love all your beautiful photos, too!Blessings,
BILL

Three cheers for Karin!!!
I am so glad that you are feeling better. I do not know why but husbands have many ideas about wives projects and steps. Unfortunately mine is usually right... maybe that is fortunately.
I do know that it sure feels great to do a real physical chore, like painting LARGE objects such as walls. I can not wait to see your finished roomS! :)
HUGS,
Mary

Open that can of paint with a paint can opener and drop your hubby right in and poound the lid down tight - just the way he would want it, Sharon. In spite of him, you are accomplishing oodles! And it's gorgeous. I loved that Country Living cover too. I wondered if it was the soft blue that called out to me?
My bests,

What a fun post. Thanks for sharing. I know all about feeling like crap. I'm just getting over being sick again. I don't think I got over the original ickmo.
I LOVE the hearts. I'm working on Christmas already for this year :)

Love the hearts you are working on and the issue of Country Living. You are so right about that bucket filled to the brim with bright and beautiful flowers. That could go just about anywhere inside or outside the home and be in a perfect spot.
Thanks for sharing all of your ups and downs. This was my first week actually out and about since Christmas. It is so cold and damp here is MA, it takes until April/May to actually warm up.
xoxo and have a wonderful weekend.

Yay! Doesn't it feel good to feel good again? I am finally over my yuk too and hope it stays that way. I'm popping vitamins and drinking DanActive to boost my resistance. As for painting the kitchen cabinets, that is something I've been wanting to do myself, but have put it off because I dread all the prep work. What kind of paint did you use?
