December?....already?.....wasn't it just Halloween?....Seriously.....
I can hardly believe it's December 1st. Sheesh. Ok...before I get into my random all over the place post, I have to share with you how I am still technically "waiting" for my bone scan results. Someone dropped the ball over in the oncology department. And they dropped it big time. Because if "someone" were to look in my chart, she would realize that a potentially, hysterical, beside herself woman has, only to their knowledge, waited EIGHT days for a scan result that according to Nucleur Medicine was ready last Tuesday. Seriously. I thought for sure the nurse would have called me this morning apologizing profusely for having me nervously wait a four day holiday weekend. Not only did I not get an apology, but I haven't even gotten the phone call. Thank goodness I have friends in high places over at Kaiser that can get things done for me. I have my CAT scan tomorrow so I'm going to mosey on over to oncology and innocently ask her "how's those bone scan results going? Are we outsourcing them to India now along with cell phone bill inquiries? No rush...just let me know whenever it's good for you....I've got all the time in the world to wait for my fate." I'll keep you updated.......
{{Edited to add: My bone scane is clear. I got it last Wednesday when I found out that the results were ready on Tuesday. Because it was late Wednesday afternoon, I asked a friend who is a doctor to get it for me before the weekend. But oncology doesn't know that....according to them I'm still waiting.}}
It was a busy, busy weekend over here at the Chaos household. Lots of things going on. First yummy Thanksgiving.........
Only a blogger would take a picture of her plate. I would kill for that stuffing right now......
Then on Friday, it was right back to work. I don't know if you remember, but I'm doing this art & craft fair on the 7th. By the way, if any San Diegians are out there it is the North Park Craft Mafia's Holiday Hit List. (If you read my blog and come by to say hi, let me know!) It's going to be in Point Loma at Liberty Station. Luckily, all the cosmos aligned and I actually had quite a head start on my projects before the dreaded "D" day. I know. I know. Impossible to believe. But I have witnesses.
Dana and Annette came over on Friday to help me catch up on projects and packaging things. We actually got a ton accomplished. And, believe me, it wasn't because of their luxury working conditions. Seriously, there are workers toiling away in coal mines who have it easier than these two did. We worked on the kitchen table because my studio was (and, still is) a huge disaster. I fed them burnt popcorn in the 5 hours they were there because everyone who delivered or was close by was closed for the holiday.....And, I told Annette the tags she made weren't up to my standards. She totally ignored me and continued on chatting with Dana about who is certifiably more crazy...The Real housewives of Atlanta or Orange County. Despite the lack of food, we had a blast!
These collages are a work in progress. I should have the finished pictures soon.
I found this blue glitter and love it. It matches the silk ribbon I've had for years perfecty....
So as you can see I won't have to sell one ornament for $300 to make up lack of inventory to sell. Which, frankly is a good thing because I could not come up with a good enough explanation for why a "Vintage 19th Century Ornament" has the base of a Target snowflake and the center of a Michael's star. I realized no amount of fast talking was going to get me out of that dilemma. Overall having the fair in which to look forward and get ready, was a great distration. Distrations are good nowadays.
Then on Saturday Dana and I went to Paper Tales for their open house. I forgot my camera so I blantantly stole this picture from Michelle......
So. Much. Fun.....It was so great to see Michelle, Diane and Julie. Sorry I missed you Helle!! I'm posing wih a cookie because I devoured them as soon as I got my hands on the plate. As you can see, I haven't cut ALL sugar from my diet yet. I bought a bunch of stuff and will post picture on my next post of what I got. Looking forward to girls' margarita night out. Love you guys!!!!
Sunday I worked on my stuff for the craft fair and slept. Speaking of sleep I have to get to bed. Need my beauty rest for my CAT scan tomorrow.
Talk to you soon! Karin

You know the old town bridge? I don't know what the name of it is right now...blank. Well my grandfather was a mason and helped build that bridge. Interesting, they slept inside the columns as they built it! Well, a little SD trivia. On to more important things.
God Bless You today, and keep up posted!!

Hi Karin!
I love all your creations! The ornies and cones are so pretty!
Get on them about your results....You shouldn't have to wait and it is okay to tell them so! I got my voice advocating for my mom and found out it was better to be assertive than passive...maybe you could have a sister, friend or your mom be your advocate for things like this so you don't have to worry...
Have fun at the fair! I wish I were able to drive down and meet you in person! Hugs! karen....

I just stumbled across your blog and love it -- I'm a quilter and crafter and I did the whole breast cancer dance almost two years ago and you know what people say about attitude being key? Well, they're right and I say you have it!! I was lucky to have excellent support and care and have lots of tips for dealing with hair loss, side effects, etc. so you should feel free to email me.
I also learned alot about the joys of unsolicited advice, so I won't go into detail except for this one thing. See if you can get a friend to make a meal calendar for you -- so many people want to do something and you can just say "talk to __ she'll tell you when I'll need dinner." (I am usually the one to make dinners for people and if felt weird asking so having a middle man was easier for me. Also, she could be specific where I just couldn't say "by the way, nothing too spicy or saucy and the kids prefer to put their own dressing on salad....") Too bad she didn't screen out the one neighbor who made the big pot of PEA SOUP. What was she thinking?
Hang in there -- it's a bump in the road, right?

Karin, I am so glad your scan was clear.... and SO frustrating that you had to wait so long to find out. I LOVE all of the stuff you are making for your table. I wish I could come but I couldn't be farther way here in Pa! :(
Glad you had a nice thanksgiving, xoxo Heather

Karin how wonderful that your scan was clear. Waiting forever for results is pathetic when you know they could have given them to you earlier.Love the reference to outsourcing to India. I thought we in Australia were the only ones having to put up with trying to understand our 'Indian friends' when we ring for all sorts of accounts.

mmm, love those red and white cones. All of your stuff is so cute and sweet. Someday I will open the package of Karin tags I purchased a long time ago. They are just too pretty to use!

Dude, seriously, don't scare people like that. I thought you had told me that the scan was clear, I had a mini heart attack there. I kind of figure no news is good news in a case like that but sheesh, making you wait over the holiday. Gah!! Even when I had my amnio, they hurried and called me late on "good" friday so I'd know everything was ok before the holidays. Sheesh.
Anyway, I am glad everything is going well. Hope you knock 'em dead with your ornaments this year. Are you going to sell what you have leftover online??
