had to make a bunch of projects for a design team and although you are going along at a good clip you have this idea in your head of a certain design....it involves Melissa Frances paper and birds and glitter and crepe and more glitter.... and even though it isn't traveling from your head to your hands as fast as you would like, you keep going back to it in between all the other projects you have going on even if that means throwing a pizza at your kids and husband for dinner and then sometime soon thereafter forgetting that you even have kids because you are so consumed with bringing this project to completion? Or, is it just me?
Yeah...it's probably me.
Although, I do have to say, I did pry myself away from the computer for a moment to help Carlos with a math problem. I figured it would only take a second as I am pretty darn awesome substitute teacher, if I do say so myself. Plus I know my times tables like the back of my hand. I knew I would have it covered and be back in glitter in no time.......Ha! All I have to say is.....Holy mother of 5th grade math.....two college educated parents trying to help an 11 year old with fractions......it was like a circus act. We whipped out calculators....online math resources....there was much scratching of the collective heads.....Seriously. If you would have happened to pass through our kitchen at that point you would have thought Cosme and I were attempting to split an atom. Sigh....
Anyway, after getting my butt kicked in elementary mathematics, I went back to where life makes sense...my glitter. So, it started with this......
and involves this.....
I feel like I'm almost there. I just keep tweaking it to bring it to the image in my head. In the meantime, I've got this one done for Melissa Frances' new collection of paper.......
and this one.....It's a banner that says "BABY." I have to get the blue seam binding from Paper Tales tomorrow so that I can hang it up and show you. I'm working at paper Tales tomorrow so I'll take some pictures of the new items in stock.
Ok.....off to bed....those fraction took everything out of me.....Talk to you soon! Karin

Ahhhh...gorgeous.

Karin, I know the feeling about 5th grade math. (If you ever get it in your head that you are a genius just try to do their math problems)I have an 11 yr. old daughter in 5th grade and my husband and I are often left scratching our heads. As always your creations are beautiful.

OMGosh. The math story was so funny in a "I want to gouge my eyes out" kind of way. My daughter had a math problem in 6th grade and my two friends, one who had an MB in Engineering and the other with a PhD in chemistry could not figure it out. After a couple of hours they got an answer but couldn't explain it. They told her to say she dreamt the answer. Ha ha.
