Creative Chaos

After all those distractions.....

 

I actually got some things accomplished.   I finally took out the remaining Christmas items out of my Etsy shop and put some new things in.......

 

I managed to finish up some more projects from the unfinished project pile.......

And I even started on a new project.  It's something I've been wanting to do for a while but keep putting it off for just the perfect moment.  You know, that moment that lurks around every corner yet never shows up when it's convenient.  Anyway, once again I found myself at Paper Tales.   And, once again I'm minding my own beeswax when out of the blue a customer starts asking for a canvas journal/album.   It's the refill pages to an album that didn't ship to the store.  The woman doesn't mind; she'll take them anyway.   "Oh really." I think to myself.  I need to find out more.  So I ask her what she plans to do with it.  Because as much as I love this whole new canvas business that's been showing up everywhere, I'm completely perplexed by it.  So she says she's going to paint on it, embellish it etc.   Hmmmmmm...... All of a sudden bells go off in my head.  I want one.  So I grab the other one...... tell Michelle I'm taking it...... and, as I'm running out the door, I yell something about "wait until you see what I create.....big plans.....talk to you later......"  She waves me off knowing she's heard that story a million times before.   So, when I got home that night instead of putting together my kits for my class, I pulled out gesso, paint, fabric, paper, pictures, pencils stamps and what ever else I could think of and created this.......

Has this ever happened to you.......

You finally get your craft room 90% cleaned and organized.  While patting yourself on the back and thinking you're ten different levels of awesome........

 
you wander into the newly cleaned room with the sole purpose of retrieving a paperclip and potentially putting together the kits for a class on the now empty counter........

 
 
When at that exact moment, you spot all the new paper you just organized and simultaneously get a sudden urge to create that perfect little whatchamacallit........

 
However, on the way back to the table you then look at your shelf and see all the unfinished projects sitting there patiently waiting their turn......

You suddenly declare it's official "Finish What You Start Day" while pulling down all the half-done projects and piling them on your desk......

 

You get a couple things crossed off your list.....

 

 
But then in the middle of putting the crepe paper on the little tin cans, you spot this........

and think "Wow! That scrapbook paper looks just like the vintage wallpaper I have."  
And then proceed to spend 10 minutes looking for said paper.....

 
Discovering that it opens up a whole new realm of creative possibilities, you see there is only one sheet, thereby, putting the all new realm on hold.   You then turn back to finishing tin can projects; but not before you  spot the little peat cups that Diane gave you a couple weeks ago.......

 
Telling yourself that Easter is going to come sooner than later, you immediately start painting them and coming up with the most amazing Easter ideas ever; but the paint is taking too long to dry for amazing ideas, so you turn to this tag and think "how fun would it be to copy my original collage design and make a bunch of tags...." 

So you do it......

 

Realizing you have no idea what you are going to do with twenty of these tags, you turn your attention to........

 
the fact that you need to announce the winners for a giveaway that happened a month ago.  You email everyone profusely apologizing for your lack of follow through making all sorts of promises of winners on tomorrow's post.  

It's at this point you look at your desktop that just yesterday was virtually cleaned and organized...............

and wonder why you needed a paperclip in the first place.  

Is it just me?

On to other news......We finally have a winner!  The accounting team of "Mommy Tell Him To Leave Me Alone" were each asked to picked a number from 1 through 10.  After many misfires and shout outs of the number one million, one hundred, Thomas the Train  and "why can't I pick number 4,678. You told me to pick a number," we finally settled on choosing names from a hat.   Without further ado, the winners are......

Ginger @ Glitter and Roses for the Easter Egg and Terri K @ The Gypsy Magpie for the earrings.  I'll email you both!

I've also been busy organizing piles of paperwork for the accountant......but taking some time out for this.......

Working on it for my sister.   

Last but not least, working on a few new ways to organize the children.........

The creative frenzy continues........

I'm going to do this for a class at Paper Tales.   It's raining over here.  It's the perfect time to finish up taxes and hunker down with the boys......once they stop annoying each other.  I pulled out the big guns and told them no wii.  They have been miraculously compliant the past few minutes......I love the wii.
 
  

I just spent $3.99 on this magazine so I can rip on this page.......

 
While standing in line at Target yesterday evening waiting for my turn to buy dishwasher detergent and toilet paper, I leafed through this magazine and came across this little gem.   Oh goodie!  Spring is coming and I need a way to to rid myself of "high fat" from my diet. I naively and blindly thought that not eating Haagan daz chocolate chocolate chip ice cream every night would be a good start.  However, according to Charla, not only does it involve eliminating high fat creamy blue cheese dressing, but it includes cutting off my arms and legs......and possibly my stomach.....but for sure my butt....if I dared walk out in my size 6 body in any of these number...... 
  

God help you if you're a size 8.  

Are you serious Charla?   You needed to use the word "high fat" to emphasize slimming techniques on size 0 actresses.    Really? High Fat?   My jaw is still on floor with your choice of words to describe what I see is possible a somewhat poor choice of outfits on the above perfectly normal, attractive women.

I decided to add a couple things that I felt was missing from the commentary below.....

 

Thanks Charla, for your enlightened view on women and their body image with  "Never Look Fat Again."   Because out of all the things we should aspire to never be again.....Fat certainly is at the top of the list.

Who says you can't be creative when doing your taxes........

Certainly not me.  It's as if the forces above are throwing every available obstacle in my way to hinder my attempts to comply with the IRS.

Yesterday, I went to Paper Tales  to drop off the tags for the class and make sure they had the papers and ribbon I would need. Got my cute little crocheted flowers from Diane and was ready to shuttle the boys out the door with multi layered promises of chocolate milk, Carl's Jr for dinner and Mario Cart.    And then what does Michelle say to me?!?   "Look at all the new stuff we got in!"    Here I am.  Minding my own business....taking care of business and sitting smack dab on a shelf is the new Webster's Pages.  As if my will to get my taxes done could be pushed any further......

So I did the only thing I could at the time.......told the boys to get comfortable because we were staying awhile!  

I also left with the tags I was supposed to drop off.

So here's what I did with the new Webster Pages paper......

I did a new twist on an old design of mine with the cutest polka dot paper.....

I have so many ideas swirling around in my head with this paper......

 

The flower and polka dot paper is from The Girls' Paperie .  The pink damask paper is from Teresa Collins.  I loved all three of these together.......

Because I have no shame, a picture of my desk top.   If I showed you a wide shot of my desk you would not believe that anyone could draw a line on a piece of paper much less craft a gift tag........

What do all these items have in common.....

 

They are all fuel for my procrastination bonfire. 

I was supposed to be working on taxes yesterday. However, exactly what am I supposed to do when the same room in which I do my taxes is the same room in which I craft?  Do you see what I'm up against?

Let me break it down mathematically for you.....

Take a craft room needing to be cleaned......

 

Add:  new paper and glitter from Paper Tales.........

 Divide by: greatest class project idea in the universe that can't possibly wait one more minute.....

 

 The square root of:  cute little letter stamps......

 
  
 
 

Subtract: any ounce of motivation for working with dollars and cents.....

Equals = two new class projects for Paper Tales.

There you have it.  My recipe for putting something off. Hmmmmm....that totally reminds me of my famous recipe for chocolate chip cookies......Ok, gotta go look to see if we have flour......
