Can you stand more earrings.......

 

I was back at it again taking more pictures yesterday.  Does anyone out there in blogland use a Canon PowerShot SX110is?  

 
I think I have the lighting thing down by taking the pictures in bright natural light.  But no matter what I seem to do, the picture turns out grainy. 

I've been using the auto setting with the macro focus.  I've experimented with some different settings but that one seems to be the best. 

I haven't ventured over in manual focus because....well, let's just say, I have no idea where to start with that. 

 

I suppose I should take some time to read the instruction manual.......

 

So here's another shot of the crystal and pearl cluster earrings I love.  I still feel like it doesn't capture the look.   I made a bunch more similar to this pair so I need to get it figured out soon.

 

Oh well, if I can't figure it out it looks like everyone is getting earrings for Christmas.......

I don't list on Etsy as much as I do is because of the pictures.  A photographer I'm not.   I was on a roll the other day listing earrings.  I got five listed.  That's huge for me because usually I get one thing listed and I'm done for the day.
 
In the case of the earrings it's so hard to get a good clean detailed shot that shows them at their best.   It's hard for me anyway.  

 

 

 

For instance, the earrings below are one of my favorite pair.  But when I look at the picture I took I don't even recognize them.   

Then I tried to get all artistic.  Still didn't work.....

 

I better figure it out soon because I have a bunch to list.

Here's what I did last night.......

Had some beer for boobs......

 

Actually, I had a raspberry dream and not a beer, but that's beside the point........  

 

The event, held at The High Dive, was put together by Ingrid, who is not only  a mom at the boys' school, but owns the place with her husband.   While planning the event, in one of those crazy, ironic, twist of fate moments, she discovered she had breast cancer.  Really. She did.   The woman planning a breast cancer fundraiser discovered that she herself had breast cancer.   How does that even happen?    

Of course, anyone who knows Ingrid was not at all surprised that she held steady in her commitment to raise money for the cause despite her newfound diagnosis.   And, anyone who knows Ingrid, knows that cancer better be running for the hills right now because she is a force to be reckoned with.   She is not only going to kick cancer's ass....but she's going to throw it down, stomp all over it and then just for fun.... kick it's ass again.  I'm not kidding.  She will. 

The event went on as planned.  She convinced her doctor to let her start chemo the day after so she could be there.   And, just for kicks she auctioned off the cutting of her hair to the highest bidder......

 
It was a $1001 haircut.

 
The event was a place where tears met up with laughter and then moved on to reflection while holding tight to hope and, all the while, never losing sight of living while you still have the ability to live.   

  

 

I love this picture of me and Marcia.   As a breast cancer survivor herself (she had just finished with her treatment just as I was diagnosised)  she helped me through every step of the way. 

 

It was quite a night.   

The joys of blogging.......

First off I wanted to thank everyone who emailed me about the "B" scrabble tile.  When I went to teach class on Saturday Diane had just restocked the "b's."   So I snagged it before anyone else.   Of course I forgot to take a picture of it.  But when I go in this weekend I will get a shot of it.

So back to the Joys of Blogging........getting to meet Nancy!  She's been a long time reader of my blog and drove down from Pamona to take my class on Sunday.  Not only that....she had a "chocolately" gift for me!  She's one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet....and I'm not saying that because she brought me Count Chocula!   We had a great time during class and I feel so fortunate to have met her! 

Speaking of which I wanted to show you a treat box that Sonia had given me at Glitterfest.........

While we're on the subject of Halloween, it's time to say goodbye to some projects that never quite got off the ground.   Like this fun bucket covered in cheescloth that went no further than this shelf.......

So.......

I'm back with Michael's again.  I know, I know.  But the holidays always seem to bring me back into its warm, cozy, 50% off coupon, cinnamon scented filled arms.   I'm taking it slow this time.  They haven't started the "one line may or may not start here" brohaha yet.  So we'll see how it goes.   One thing you need to do, however, is run in and grab these puppies up before they are gone........

 

The whole $1.00 section in the back is 70% percent off.  That makes this 8 cards and envelope set 30 cents.....30 cents people!!  I've got so many plans for these little cards. 

However, all "these plans" will have to wait until I finish cleaning up my craft room.   It's at the worst it's ever been.  No, really.  It is.   I kept thinking "after glitterfest....after glitterfest....."  As if after glitterfest I would no longer have two kids, a husband with a broken leg, dinners to make, laundry to launder and tv to watch.......sigh.....this is when a full time maid would really come in handy.   So since there is no full-time, part-time or anytime maid on the horizon it's up to me to sift through it all.......
