Ok....something else completed......

 

for a class at Paper Tales.........

 

I'm excited about it because this half finished canvas has been sitting on my shelf since last year.  I loved the background collaged papers and colors.  I adore the pink and yellow paper of the heart.   At some point though, I became stuck and cast it aside on the "I'll get to it later" shelf.    Well, it finally made its way off the "Shelf of Misfits" and on to the work table.......

The Ups and Downs of the art world........

 

The up.........when you finally see a project come together as you had envisioned........

 

The down......when people on your creative team have no respect for the difficulty in obtaining the perfect red polka dot paper.........

 

The up.......when you realize that the beeswax works perfectly on the Valentine project......

 

The down......when you know that members ofthe creative team who have habits of randomly defacing paper can not be fired due to being related to upper management.......

your craft room doesn't.  I'm working on a Valentine's Day class for Paper Tales

 

I'm hoping to distract myself from the fact that the room is no closer to being organized than when I started a few weeks ago.

I still have things stacked in the living room and I've already messed up my nice clean workspace.

Ackkkk....Just when I thought I was never going to see peppermint bark again....Woo Hoo!   Thanks soooo much Sonia!!  I know I've said it before, but I will say it again.....You need to be showing off your work!  You are so talented.....How about starting a blog for the new year!

I'm still working on the craft room.  It's taking me waaaay longer than I ever expected.  It's the kind of progress that's measured in light years........

 

Plus the other problem is that I'm trying to get things done.  Of course everything is moved around, stacked in the living room or put out in the garage so it's taking me forever to located a pair of scissors or glue pen. 

 

Oh well, I've got bigger fish to fry.  Someone's 6th birthday is tomorrow and I've got a Super Mario party to plan.  Not to mention, trying to figure out the mathematical time/space/theory of relativity equation of how this........

 

turned into this.......

 
 
It's weird because somehow I've managed to go back in time and pretend I'm still 29.  So I have no idea how these two just keep getting bigger and better.

Progress has been made......sort of......

 

 

 

 Unfortunately, it has been at the expense of my living room.....

 

 

and kitchen.... and hallway.  But as I told all members of this family, including the cat, you can not rush greatness........

 

I seem to be working at a snail pace deciding between the necessary and the "unnecessary....but I still might use it.....need it.....want it" portion of this purge.   The other thing hampering this whole process is that  I keep unearthing all these projects that I started way back when I apparently thought there were 42 hours in the day.......

Oh look!  It's the cute Christmas clipboard tutorial I was going to do on my blog.  And, the chipboard album that was going to contain the Ali Edwards 25 days of Christmas fun.......
 

 Ahhhhh....and this wonderful fabric I bought in October in order to get a jump on the holiday crafting frenzy......The plans I had for this.......

 

All the crafts that were started in the previous years that I was finally going to complete.........

 

Thank goodness Valentine colorways are the same as Christmas.  Phew......I can just pretend I was intending on using this for Valentine's Day all along......

 

I think I'll just go hang out in the sun with the cat.   I might be more productive that way.

Sledding......Southern California Style.......

 with boogie boards......

 

We dropped any and all plans to organize this morning in order to throw snowballs ..........

hear our feet crunching in the snow......

 

and, then, slide down a big icy, snowy, muddy hill........

 

Some people were unsure of the whole icy, snowy, muddy situation.......

Others jumped right on the boogie board like a polar bear to an iceberg.  Much discussion was going on along the sidelines as to whether it would be prudent to hop on an instrument meant for the sea water.......

After determining that big brother was having waaaaaay too much fun, a decision was made to just do it.......

 

He never looked back.......

 

I even put down my camera for a second to join the fun.  Because of the extra weight added to Carlos' boogie board, he went down the hill faster than he did all morning.   I guess all those carmels and peppermint bark that I've been eating for the last month came in handy for something! 

 

Ok...back to organizing.......

A Brand New Year......The Same Exact Craft Room......

 
But that is all about to change.   Really, it is.  It's major overhaul time here at Casa Chaos.  My husband and I did a little negotiating of gifts just before Christmas.  He said that if I can get this room cleaned and organized, he would not only get started on my garage studio.....he would give me half of his bay in addition to my space.  Woo hoo....Now, before everybody starts getting any ideas of the selfless, giving, altruistic man I'm married to.....forget it.  His main motivation is to turn this space back into a dining room. 

 

The man just wants a place to eat his dinner.   We'll see though.  I'm not so sure I want to give up my space in the house.  Hopefully, he won't sue me for breach of contract......or, make me live in the garage with my craft supplies.....

No matter what happens, it's going to take a while as we need to fix a leak in the garage, and I have this to clean, purge and organize..........

 

I'm already overwhelmed......

 
I'm trying to keep within the spirit of my favorite quote "Eliminate the unnecessary so the the necessary can speak" while cleaning and purging. However, I'm having a difficult time discerning exactly what is unnecessary.   It all seems so very necessary to me.  With that in mind, I fear I'm creeping a bit closer to Hoarders territory.....

 
For instance, here is a blocked thoroughfare.....The "Got Junk" guys may say this is a fire hazard.  I say it's just a way to cram more creativity into my life.......

 
It's also a way to keep unwanted children out of the fray.  They are frightened of this room.   That's a good thing.

 

Unfortunately, I have nowhere to work.....except the kitchen table.  And, so you see the cycle continues......

 

I'll be back to show you my progress.  Believe it or not, I did make progress.  For example, I organized a bunch of fabric to list on ebay.   If anyone is interested in some fabric I've got bunches to unload.
