A Little Bit of Everything.....

Do everything!  I'm feeling super creative but as usual limited by working, feeding children and the need for 8 hours of sleep.  I've been bouncing around with a bunch of different projects. So as you saw from my last post "Follow Your Dreams" album/journal is one class I'm working on........

 

 

I'm also going to be doing a tutorial for this project I did at Paper Tales........

I used the Melissa Frances chipboard house and paper.  I also whipped up some of these at Paper Tales the other day using felt, bits of paper and ribbon......

I love making tags...it's the perfect thing to do when you want to be creative but have just a little bit of time.  Plus it's a great way to use up little bits and pieces of paper and ribbons......

I also finished a Hoarders Class: Summer fun.  I love doing this class.  I come up with the idea for the book, an inspiration kit, plus lots of fun techniques.   Everyone else bring their own paper and creativity.  I've been doing it since last year.  I'm trying to get it going as a once a month thing....but life gets in the way :)

Another class at Paper Tales.......

This class has been a long overdue.....like, two years overdue. Literally.   So, let me back track a bit to a few years back when these My Mind's Eye paper's came in.......

 

I loved them...I had to create something with them....

So I told Michelle to stop everything she was doing and order more of these papers so I could create the mother of all mini albums.  It was going to be spectacular....amazing...I mean how could I go wrong with the design....

 

I immediately went home, told the family to hold all my calls and feed themselves and got to work on this mini album that was going to turn the crafty world on its head......

 

 

Then some new paper came into the store, I got distracted by shiny things and eventually forgot that I was even working on it......

 

Fast forward to a few weeks ago....while cleaning my craft room I uncovered the plastic box that held the contents of this long neglected project which at one time was going to change the world......

That and I also felt guilty that I had been sitting on all these papers for the last two years.  So I quickly finished up the minibook adding some mixed media and journaling elements to it.  I'm really happy with how it all turned out......

The class will be at Paper Tales on April 26th from 4:00 -7:30pm.  I will be providing a pdf instruction sheet of the album.  So if you can't make it to the class kits will be available.  Talk to you soon...Karin

Well, I finally finished the album.  It started as a store sample, turned into a personal photo album and then a class at Paper Tales....

 

 

I had so much fun making this album......

When one thing turns to another.....

 

I wanted to do a fast and easy tutorial using these kraft notebooks from Paper Tales.......  

I love these things.  The kraft cover begs to be embellished while the inside has lined brown pages that are just perfect for writing on.  So, as with any project I start, what I intend to do and what I actually do are two completely different entities.  It never fails. It's as if my brain takes on a life of its own and refuses to comply with the plan.  Here is what I was going to show you.......

 Here is what I ended up with as soon as I sat down and grabbed a paintbrush.....

Totally different.  Although, I do have somewhat of a plausible excuse involving not being able to find the same flowers in my craft room and not having the wider ribbon....and, then, I got distracted by painting on some vintage book paper and finding my white signo pen......frankly, it's all a blur.....

So, anyway, here is what I started with: a perfectly blank kraft notebook.....

I started to throw some paint down on it in random directions.......

resulting in this.....

After looking for those flowers that I kew where somewhere and not finding them, I decided to paint on some book paper and then cut out a heart......

I glued it down and then added some white paint arount the edges.....

I thought it was all looking a little too pale, so I added some brighter pink......

Oh look!  I found some flowers. I toyed briefly with doing the flower thing but then spied some tissue paper..........

I cut out a heart from the tissue paper and then applied some glitter glam to adhere it to the heart......

 

After it dried, I stamped on my sentiment and outlined the heart with a white and black pen.....

They are so much fun to make and are perfent little notebooks to carry around.   Talk to you later!  Karin 

Well, there goes February.....

To February: It was fun...it was fast. 

 

Holy cow.  I can't believe it's already mid March.  So much for that New Year resolution where I'm blogging every day.....or every week...or something.  I have been busy doing some creative stuff....like this journal page.  I decide to start a journal for fun.  And then there are the Copics.......

The Copic road that I said I would never, ever go down.  Well, that road has been gone down, paved and well traveled.  I love them..so much fun.  It's something different from what I've worked worked with......

 

So the basic design of this one was lifted from Pam Garrison......

I adore her journal pages.  They give me so much inspiration.  I needed a starting point and used one of her pages to nudge me......

 

So for right now, I'm just playing around with them and figuring out all they can do......

In other news, in between subbing and tending to my childrens constant need for food and attention, I've managed to get a couple classes on the Paper Tale's calendar. One of the classes involves these papers from Maggie Holmes......

 

I just have to finish the cover and I will be all done with it.  I love how it turned out.  I'll post it as soon as it's finished.  Until then...I'll talk to you later!  Karin
